The Australian Team Sets a New Benchmark as Healy Has One Peak Left to Climb.

It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
